Screen Shots on PC

If you are running Windows95 or WindowsNT, you can capture an image of your screen using the "print screen" (PRINT SCREEN) key.

To make a "screen shot":

• Press ALT+PRINT SCREEN (grabs image of active window) or PRINT SCREEN (grabs image of entire screen.)
• Open up a graphics program -- like Paint -- that can read bitmapped images.
• Use the program's "paste" menu option to paste in the screen shot image. The image should appear in the graphics program window.
• Save the image.

What happens when you press PRINT SCREEN or ALT+PRINT SCREEN is that Windows copies an image from your screen into the clipboard. You can then "paste" (control-V) the image into any program that can cope with bitmapped images. One simple program you can use for this is "Paint," which typically comes pre-installed with Windows computers. You should be able to find it under the "accessories" menu: see Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint.
